The Ragdoll is a cat breed with blue eyes and a distinct colorpoint coat. It is a large and muscular semi-longhair cat with a soft and silky coat. Developed by American breeder Ann Baker, it is best known for its docile and placid temperament and affectionate nature. The name "Ragdoll" is derived from the tendency of individuals from the original breeding stock to go limp and relaxed when picked up. Particularly popular in both the United Kingdom and the breed's native United States, ragdoll cats often are known as "dog-like cats" or "puppy-like cats" due to behaviors such as their tendency to follow people around, their ease at being physically handled, and their relative lack of aggression toward other pets.

Our Story

Welcome to our Peartreehill Furbabies site, enjoy, relax and sooth your cat loving senses. Living and working on a farm naturally led my husband and I to being both Ragdoll and British Shorthair cat breeders. The beauty and personality of these exceptional breeds lured us to this enjoyable pastime which we have the pleasure of now sharing with you. Our number one priority, are our cats and their well-being they are a part of our family and as such are cared and loved greatly. We live in a gorgeous country setting perfect for creating and nurturing a furbaby life. A great deal of time is spent with our babies to ensure they are affectionate, friendly and a healthy addition to your family, temperament is essential facet of breeding and is greatly aided from early and positive human interaction. Our fur babies are inside with access to fresh air and sunshine in a secure environment, as our babies rule they have their very own sun room built for the sole purpose of their enjoyment and which has now been expanded to a 14m x 4m cat enclosure, with all the creature comforts their hearts desire, insulated against the heat and cold, with in-slab heating pads and interactive play gyms. Premium nutrition of Kangaroo, beef and chicken mince and bones, rice, vegetables, sardines, and high quality dry biscuits maximise health and wellbeing. We started our small selective breeding programme with a gorgeous blue bi colour Ragdoll queen named Appleby and a stunning seal point Ragdoll queen named Andora. A short time later adding to our family two teddy bear British shorthairs, a queen named Duchess and male named Duke. Fasara Ragdolls, Chellendon Ragdolls and Marshall Park British Shorthair have been our mentors and friends and have allowed us to pursue our dream of breeding perfect kittens. Need to know more? We welcome your enquiry however as we have a small number of litters a waiting list may apply. Look forward to introducing you to your newest family fur baby soon. Warm regards Helen & Graeme

British Short Hair

The British Shorthair is the pedigreed version of the traditional British domestic cat, with a distinctively chunky body, dense coat and broad face. The most familiar colour variant is the "British Blue", a solid blue-gray with copper eyes, but the breed has also been developed in a wide range of other colours and patterns, including tabby and colorpoint. It is one of the most ancient cat breeds known, probably originating from Egyptian domestic cats imported into Britain by the invading Romans in the first century AD. In modern times it remains the most popular pedigreed breed in its native country, as registered by the UK's Governing Council of the Cat Fancy (GCCF). The breed's good-natured appearance and relatively calm temperament make it a frequent media star, notably as the inspiration for Tenniel's famous illustration of the Cheshire Cat from Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. In the more modern era, a blue British Shorthair is the subject of the original "I Can Has Cheezburger?" image, credited with popularising the lolcat phenomenon.
